A boardroom that commands the room.
The brief for Ihsan Cotton was to move away from the conventional corporate meeting room and create an environment with a stronger sense of identity.
Designed for both client meetings and internal discussions, the boardroom needed to balance professionalism with warmth, providing a focused setting that reflected the character of the company without relying on typical corporate finishes.
Bringing warmth into the workplace
The design is built around contrast: warm timber tones against dark metal, textured surfaces against clean lines, and focused lighting against deeper areas of shadow.
Rather than adopting the cooler palette typically associated with corporate interiors, these elements create a boardroom that feels composed and professional while retaining warmth and character.
Material Contrast
Warm timber-toned panelling is set against dark metal shelving and detailing, creating depth and definition within the room while maintaining a controlled material palette.
Layered Light
Integrated backlighting and directional illumination create depth across the walls and shelving, while providing a softer alternative to conventional overhead office lighting.
Integrated Identity
The Ihsan Cotton identity is incorporated into the shelving composition rather than applied as a separate graphic element, allowing the brand to become part of the interior itself.

Boardroom Table
The boardroom table establishes the centre of the space, with its generous proportions balanced by leather seating and the surrounding darker finishes. Its scale accommodates larger meetings while maintaining comfortable circulation around the room.
Shelving Wall
Floor-to-ceiling solid wood-framed shelving defines the rear wall, combining display, storage and the Ihsan Cotton identity within a single composition.
Lighting
Integrated backlighting and recessed directional lighting create different levels of illumination across the room, highlighting material texture and bringing depth to the darker palette
Entry & Corridor
The approach to the boardroom forms part of the experience. Dark panelling and controlled lighting create a transition from the surrounding workplace, giving the room a stronger sense of arrival.
